Koen Byttebier is a member of the Department of Private and Economic Law (Section Economic Law) of the Faculty of Law and Criminology of the “Vrije Universiteit Brussel” (VUB). He teaches courses on Financial Law, Company Law, Insolvency and Ethics of the Social economic order. He regularly publishes and supervises PhDs in the domains of his expertise.

He is an author of approximately 30 books, of more than 100 scientific articles and of various publications related to economic law. As guest lecturer, he has been a speaker at approximately 100 scientific seminars and conferences at national and international level. He is the Promotor of the “Fund for the Ethics of the socio-economic order” at the VUB. He is also the editor of a law books series and acitve as peer reviewer.

At present Koen Byttebier is the representative of the Faculty of Law and Criminology in the VUB Council of Scientific Research and the co-President of the Center for Private and Economic Law. He is a member of the editorial board of several law journals and President of the scientific board “Publications of Economic Law VUB”.

He is also a private lawyer specialized in Economic and Financial Law. He is member of several working groups and involved in various private and public (research) projects in the field of financial and economic law.

In the last decade, Koen Byttebier focused and further specialized on the subject of how law influences the national and international socio-economic order and in rethinking economic relationships and the financial economic world model.
